🇺🇸America the Beautiful, $190,000 Raised, and Pow Wow Days

Good morning, neighbors. Especially America the beautiful. 248 years ago tomorrow, on July 4, 1776, the thirteen American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain, marking the birth of the United States. This historic event was solidified with the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, primarily authored by Thomas Jefferson. The document proclaimed the colonies' right to self-govern and listed grievances against King George III, setting the stage for the Revolutionary War and the eventual establishment of a new nation based on the principles of liberty and justice for all. America is the truly the greatest nation on earth.

Let’s get to it.

🧯FIREWORKS SAFETY

The Bureau, Putnam & Marshall County Health Department is lighting up safety awareness with their top tips for handling fireworks.

  • They suggest always having an adult in charge—because kids and fireworks mix about as well as oil and water.

  • Remember not to give those dud fireworks a second chance—never try to relight them. It's like asking a sloth to sprint; it just won't work.

  • Keep water nearby, because sometimes you need to extinguish more than just your excitement.

  • Always light one firework at a time—it’s a show, not a race.

  • Lastly, always shoot fireworks on a clean, flat surface away from anything that can burn—unless you’re aiming to make your barbecue more literal.
