Good morning, Princeton. Especially all of those super talented High Schoolers who performed in Monday evening’s Christmas Band and Choir Concert. I liked it all, but I especially enjoyed the Jazz Band. I was groovin’ to their song “Arnge Drink.” Nice job, everyone.

Let’s get after it.

⛅️Thursday: Thursday starts with a mix of clouds and sunshine, transitioning to cloudy skies by afternoon with snow showers possible. Highs will only reach 19°F with light WNW winds at 5 to 10 mph. The night will remain partly cloudy, with lows dropping to a frigid 8°F and calm SW winds.

☁️Friday: Cloudy conditions dominate the day as rain and snow showers develop in the afternoon. Highs will peak at 33°F with ESE winds at 10 to 15 mph. Overnight, the rain and snow showers will persist before transitioning to mainly rain. Lows will hover around 30°F with SE winds at 10 to 15 mph.

🌧️Saturday: Morning showers give way to cloudy conditions for the rest of the day. Highs will reach 40°F with SSW winds at 10 to 15 mph. The chance of rain decreases as the day progresses. Partly cloudy skies are expected overnight, with lows near 33°F and light WSW winds.

Arctic Blast Brings Frigid Temps, Snow Chances, and Quick Warm-Up

An Arctic front pushes in early Wednesday, bringing increasing winds and a sharp temperature drop. By Wednesday afternoon, gusts exceeding 30 mph will drive temperatures down, with wind chills falling below zero by mid-evening.

The core of the cold air arrives Thursday, with morning lows in the single digits and wind chills plunging well below zero. Daytime highs will only reach the teens, while morning wind chills will range from -20 in the north to 0 in the south. Later Thursday, light snow is expected south of I-80, with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches due to the fluffy consistency of the snow.

This cold spell will be brief, as temperatures rebound into the 30s by Friday and the 40s over the weekend. However, the rapid shifts between warm and cold air could bring several chances for rain and snow. Friday evening is particularly worth watching, with models suggesting a mix of ice and snow transitioning to rain overnight.

While not as windy as last week, this Arctic surge will deliver a sharp chill to the Midwest. Ahead of it, Tuesday will see a more moderate cold, with highs ranging from 30 to 35 under partly cloudy skies.
