What You Should Know

  • Vote for Camryn Driscoll and Noah LaPorte for News-Tribune athlete of the week.

  • A Princeton couple died in a car accident in Alabama. Hereโ€™s a news article out of Alabama.

  • From the BCR: โ€œThe Princeton Park District Dog Park is expected to open in spring 2024. The turf has been put down and the fence has been erected, the park district said.โ€

  • A Benefit will take place at the Hawg House Saloon on Saturday, December 9th at 4pm for Melody Peach. Melody was diagnosed with Breast cancer on July 28, 2022. $20 a ticket, includes a Pulled Pork Dinner served from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Music provided by 7 Miles South from 4 p.m.-8:00 p.m. They will also have a silent auction and raffle tickets for sale. Winners will be announced at 8:30 p.m. Tickets will also be sold at the door.

  • Tickets are now on sale for the first annual Blue and Gray Ball. April 13th, 2024 will be a truly unforgettable evening of dancing, music, and fellowship. Please email at [email protected] or contact a host here on Facebook for information on how to purchase tickets. Each ticket purchase made before March 31st will include one complimentary entry into the 50/50 drawing. Please note the 50/50 ticket will be issued to the accompanying adult to anyone under 18 years of age.

Places to Go

  • Fresh Florida Citrus Shop will be selling oranges at the Tractor Supply Company today from 3pm-4pm.

  • Apollo Theater is hosting a Polar Express Pajama Party, Saturday the 9th at 12pm. Doors open at 11:30am. Meet Santa and the Conductor. Popcorn, candy, and drink are included in the $5 ticket.

  • The Princeton High School Madrigal Singers will perform at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Barn at Hornbaker Gardens, located 22937 County Rd. 1140 N. in Princeton (BCR). You can order your tickets here.

  • In support of Erin and the Matlick family, Logan Jr. High will be hosting a "Fight Like Erin" night during their boys basketball games on Tuesday, December 12th. The 6th grade game will tip off at 4:30 pm at Logan Jr High, and 7th grade will tip off at 6:00 pm at Princeton High School (8th grade game will follow). There will be a lot of fun at this event, and multiple ways to show support for the Matlick family โ€” including a silent auction, 50/50, and much more.

  • At Optimal Health December 13th at 4pm, have fun with the kids and enjoy some good snacks and prizes with Mrs. Claus. Ornament decorating and cookie decorating will be provided! Come enjoy a good time! Donations only!

  • To celebrate the festive season, the Page Turner's Book Club has chosen the book The Christmas Train by David Baldacci. To further warm their spirits, this meeting will be held at Ye Old Underground Inn on December 14th at 6pm. They ask that you RSVP for the meeting ahead of time so they have enough seats, but anyone is welcome to join.

  • From the Princeton Fire Department: SANTA CLAUS IS MAKING A SPECIAL TRIP TO THE FIREHOUSE! Heโ€™s invited all the kids to visit so mark your calendars for Friday, December 15th from 6 P.M. - 7 P.M.

  • On Friday, December 15th, Princeton Tourism presents Christmas Wizards: A Tribute to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. This will be an incredible night of Christmas music and lights that's sure to put you and your family in the holiday spirit. 7pm-9pm @ Princeton High School. Buy tickets here.

  • Mark your calendars for the Annual Live Nativity at Walnut Community Bible Church on December 15-17th from 6pm to 8pm.

  • Drew Sheafor and Audrey Simes will be performing at Barrel Society on December 16th.

Since November 17th, The Bureau County Historical Society has been collecting your memories and photographs of the Red Covered Bridge. With what theyโ€™ve been given, theyโ€™ve decided to release a special publication honoring the history of the bridge.

If you would like to send them a memory or photograph you have of the bridge the last date to do so is Friday, December 8.

To be clear, if you send them a photo, you are giving them permission to use it in this publication and/or on their website. They will give you credit attribution.
