Good morning, Princeton. Easter egg hunts seem to have started in Germany, probably around the 16th or 17th century, before spreading through Europe and later to America. Eggs were used because they had long been a symbol of spring, new life, and rebirth. Over time, hiding and finding them became a fun seasonal tradition for children and families.
