ABC17: “Princeton, Il woman seriously hurt in Callaway County ATV crash Saturday evening”
RMN: At the 74th Sterling Invitational, the PHS Frosh/Soph Girls cross country team won the race, led by individual champion Ruby Acker, with every teammate medaling. Brady Peach earned the final medal in the Frosh/Soph Boys’ race, setting a personal best of 19:28. The Varsity Girls competed hard, and Augustus Swanson ran his best race of the season in the Varsity Boys’ division, finishing 17th with a personal best of 17:10. Coach Pat Hodge summed it up as “a good day for PHS cross country.”
Bureau County EMA announced an electronics recycling event on Saturday, October 19th, from 9 AM to noon (or until trailers are filled) at the Bureau County Highway Department. Participants should access the site via Euclid Avenue and follow signage from Elm Place to Dover Road. The event provides an eco-friendly opportunity for residents to responsibly dispose of electronics.
City of Princeton: Halloween Trick-or-Treat Hours wil be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Participating households should have a porch light on. Trick-or-Treaters should do their best to be visible and be mindful of traffic at al times. Vehicle drivers should do their best to be mindful of low-visibility costumes and children crossing the roadways at all times.

Frosty Mornings and Warming Days Ahead
Expect temperatures to drop near or below freezing by Tuesday morning, with frost likely across much of the region. Another round of cold air will arrive Tuesday night, potentially bringing frost again by Wednesday morning. Daytime highs will climb to the 50s on Tuesday, but overnight temperatures will dip back toward freezing. By Wednesday afternoon, the region will rebound to around 60 degrees. A ridge of high pressure will build in later this week, keeping conditions dry and temperatures rising. Thursday should bring highs approaching 70 degrees. While temperatures will trend above normal toward the weekend, the 80s are not expected to return. Historically, the last 80-degree day tends to occur around October 10th.
