Good morning, Princeton. I turned 35 on Sunday. Turning 35 is basically hitting adult halftime—you’re old enough to complain about back pain but young enough to still survive a trampoline park. Also, I don’t understand TikTok. And when I use Gen Z slang, my kids alternate between screaming at me and laughing uncontrollably at me.
Oh well. Let’s get after it.

Thursday night will be mostly clear, with temperatures plunging to a chilly low of 19°F. Winds will remain light, coming from the north-northeast at 5 to 10 mph.
☀️Friday: Sunny skies dominate the day with a high near 28°F and west-northwest winds at 5 to 10 mph. Clouds will increase overnight, creating partly cloudy conditions as temperatures fall to 12°F. Light winds will persist from the west-northwest at 5 to 10 mph. A cold and clear night is anticipated.
☁️Saturday: Considerable cloudiness will persist throughout the day, with highs reaching only 27°F. Winds will stay gentle, blowing from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Thanksgiving Chill: Cold Air Grips the Midwest
Cold air is pushing into the Midwest this Thanksgiving week, creating a chilly holiday without much precipitation. A jet stream trough is bringing temperatures up to 15 degrees below normal by Friday, with highs struggling to leave the mid-20s. Air masses originating from Siberia have traveled across the Arctic, reinforcing the deep cold. Despite some vorticity, the lack of moisture means little to no snow is expected, with only 20% of typical water vapor levels available. The 6-10 day outlook predicts continued dry conditions with below-normal temperatures through December 5th. After December 8th, the MJO phase 6 pattern may bring a warm shift, reducing chances of snow through Christmas. Short-term, temperatures will drop sharply after Thanksgiving, with highs in the low 30s and overnight lows in the teens. Snow enthusiasts might need to wait longer as polar air masses retreat and the overall pattern shifts.

Blue Christmas Event in Sheffield
Sometimes “Merry Christmas” is just not so merry.
You or someone you know may struggle with finding joy this Christmas, because of a recent change or loss due to death, divorce, sickness, or unfortunate and tragic circumstances. The constant refrain on the radio and television, in the shopping malls and churches, about the happiness of the season, about getting together with family and friends, reminds many people of what they have lost. The anguish of broken relationships, the insecurity of unemployment, the weariness of ill health, the pain of isolation - all of these can make us feel very empty in the midst of celebrating and spending. Adding to this blue mood is the darkest day of the year, the winter solstice, which falls on December 21st of 2024.
The Cornerstone Community Wellness Center in Sheffield is offering a Blue Christmas Candlelight Community Service on December 6th, 2024 at 6:30 pm. All are welcome and encouraged to bring a friend.
