• The Princeton FFA Alumni will host a pork chop and pork burger stand Tuesday, January 30th, at the upcoming Princeton and Bureau Valley basketball game.

• Princeton Youth Soccer League Spring registration is now open. Registration closes February 15th.

• The Alexander Park Ice Rink is now open Monday-Thursday, 12pm-8pm; Fri-Sun, 12pm-7pm. Skates can be rented for $5 at BCMC.

• The Princeton Fire Department is accepting applications for firefighters. The application can be found here.

• The Princeton band Industrial Wood is booking for 2024. Call and get your summer dates here.

• Wanted! Recruits to portray a Civil War dismounted cavalry unit performing living history events, reenactments, school and educational settings throughout Northern Illinois. For more information email [email protected].

• From January 2023-January 2024, $58,996,109.57 were played in Princeton slot machines, according to igb.illinois.gov. Nearly 20 million was played between Beck’s North and West.

PRINCETON WEATHER

Today: the temperature is expected to reach a high of 33°F, with a mix of wintry precipitation in the morning, transitioning to mainly cloudy skies in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is around 50%. The evening will likely bring a mix of rain and freezing rain, eventually changing to all rain, with a low around 31°F and a 100% chance of precipitation.

Thursday: temperatures will hover around 35-36°F throughout the day. The morning will likely see light snow transitioning to sprinkles and overcast conditions as the day progresses. Wind speeds are expected to be low, around 2-8 mph. Humidity will be high, around 90-94%. There's a minimal chance of rain in the evening, with the weather remaining overcast.

Friday: mostly cloudy with a high near 38°F. The night will remain cloudy, with the temperature dropping to around 34°F. This indicates a relatively stable and overcast day without significant precipitation or major temperature changes.

• Chamber of Commerce: Make sure to grab your tickets at Hawg House Saloon or the Chamber for “Celebrate the New Year with the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce at Hawg House Saloon.” The band Fiddlerock will play. Event is January 27th from 3pm-6pm.

• Sisler’s Ice Cream will be offering ice cream for breakfast on February 3rd, starting at 9am: coffee and donut sundaes, waffle ice cream sandwiches, fruit cereal milk shakes, and a dairy free orange juice floats.

• Zack Fedor is performing live at Barrel Society February 23rd, 7pm.

• Head over to Parlor Coffee & Cream Co. in Sheffield for a Galentine’s Day Sip and Shop, Saturday, February 3rd from 8:30am-1pm. 3 local businesses will be in the shop.
