🇺🇸MEMORIAL DAY
Memorial Day is a solemn day of remembrance for the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military. It's a day that invites us to pause amidst our busy lives to reflect on the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy. It's a moment of national unity and profound respect for those who paid the ultimate price.
In Princeton, we remember men like Navy Operations Specialist 1st Class (SW) Thomas C. Hull, who served his country with dedication and honor. Thomas died on August 2, 2005, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was assigned to a guided missile cruiser.
We remember Vietnam veterans, like Sergeant Michael Albert Wainwright, Private First Class John Edward Schertz, and Specialist Four Dale William Moore. Each of these men served with courage and distinction in the United States Army, representing Princeton with honor in far-off lands — and there are many more.
On this day, we also remember the principles for which they fought: liberty, justice. The true spirit of Memorial Day lies in this collective act of remembrance. It's a time to gather together, to honor those who have given their all, to reflect on the cost of our liberties, and to foster a sense of gratitude. This day challenges us to consider what we can do to uphold the values they died protecting, ensuring their sacrifices were not in vain.
