A Short History Lesson

Did you know that Princeton, Illinois has a fascinating history? Back in the early 1830s, it was actually called Greenfield. Pretty cool, right? Over time, it became a bustling hub for trains and roads, playing a crucial role in transportation. In fact, the arrival of the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad in 1854 was a game-changer for Princeton, propelling its growth and development.

Fast forward to today, and Princeton is still thriving, thanks to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. It keeps the city buzzing with activity and contributes to its ongoing success. But that's not all! Princeton has a rich past of helping runaway slaves through the Underground Railroad. It's truly a place with a heartwarming history.

When you stroll through the town, you'll notice that the layout and buildings have stories to tell. And if you're looking for a delightful blend of old-town charm and modern shops, Main Street is the place to be. It's a treasure trove of unique experiences, where you can soak up the charm of yesteryear while exploring trendy boutiques and vibrant stores.
