Throwback to that one time Robert Wadlow, “The World’s Tallest Man,” stopped by Princeton in the 1940’s. He was 8’11’’, 439 lbs. 👀

  • The Princeton Christian Academy Lady Eagles are 7th and 8th grade Prairie Conference champions. The 8th grade team went undefeated and will play in the Prairie Conference tournament this week. Congratulations ladies!

  • State wrestling: Cade Odell finished 4th in the 285 lb weight class, Ace Christiansen finished 3rd in the 138 lb, and Augustus Swanson finished 5th in the 106 lb. Tremendous!

  • Garbage pickup: Due to President’s Day, today’s pickup will be moved to tomorrow.

  • The Apollo Theater’s Charity Poster Sale ends this weekend. Buy 1 for $5.00, buy 5 for $20.00, or buy them all for $200.00. Proceeds go to Gateway Services.

Today: partly cloudy with highs in the lower 50s and lows in the lower 30s. Conditions are expected to be similar throughout the day and night, indicating a stable weather pattern with no significant precipitation expected.

Tuesday: Conditions will remain partly cloudy, with daytime highs in the lower 50s and nighttime lows in the mid-30s.

Wednesday: partly cloudy during the day with highs in the upper 50s, transitioning to mostly cloudy at night with lows around 40 degrees.

  • 1921 and the Stories of Nellie Becker, a Titanic Survivor will take place March 2nd at the Bureau County History Center. Contact them for more details.

  • The River Bend Food Bank Mobile Pantry will be in Princeton on Thursday at the Bureau County Fairgrounds. Registration starts at 9am with food distribution beginning at 10am; please arrive no more than 30 minutes early.

  • The Mendota Plunge, a fundraiser for the Special Olympics, will take place this Saturday at Lake Mendota and the Mendota Civic Center. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the Plunge will start at noon. New this year: Pre Plunge party with cocoa, coffee and breakfast pastries for all plungers. Awards and program to follow.

  • The winner of a million dollar scratch-off ticket sold in Peru isn't known yet. It was a $50 scratch off and the buyer had stopped for gas at the Speedway on Peru's May road. The gas station stands to collect $10,000 for their efforts. The game called “”$10 million” includes three $10 million top prizes and 15 prizes of $1 million dollars.

  • A teenage driver was ticketed after a vehicle hit a house in Mendota.
