Good morning, beautiful, sensational, magnanimous, tremendous Princeton, Illinois. Today is National Root Beer Day. Root beer, a sweet, nonalcoholic, carbonated beverage, originated in North America and is traditionally flavored with extracts of roots and herbs like sassafras, wintergreen, and sarsaparilla. Philadelphia pharmacist Charles Elmer Hires successfully marketed root beer in the late 1800s, and today, brands like PepsiCo and Coca-Cola produce it commercially, with variations in flavoring, and it's still enjoyed in classic root beer floats at old-fashioned soda fountains.
I’m rootin’ for you. Let’s go.
