Good morning, Princeton friends. Itâs hard to express how much food I will be eating this Thanksgiving season. I have a feeling you will be too. Personally, Iâm a turkey/gravy fanatic â and I will tolerate multiple slices of pumpkin pie and bad football if I have to.
Letâs move.

To clarify the current situation regarding our pool temperature.
We understand that the pool temperature has been lower than desired, and we want to assure you that a new pool furnace (heater) has been ordered. This is a necessary and significant investment for our facility.
¡ The new furnace will be installed as quickly as possible once it arrives.
¡ We ask for your continued patience during this time. Please understand that this situation was entirely out of the control of anyone at the BCMC. Due to the substantial cost of a pool furnace, it is not feasible to keep one "sitting on a shelf."

đLETTER FROM LORI
Who remembers the days when we werenât afraid to pick up hitchhikers? As drivers, our compassionate souls wanted to help out a brother in need. No reason for someone to walk the highway when you had a sweet ride. And as a pedestrian going from point A to point B, you could throw a thumb in the air, maybe hike up your pant leg a little, and pretty soon you wouldnât be wearing holes in the soles of your shoes.
Unfortunately, in this day and age, hitching a ride with a stranger is dangerous business. Iâm sure âback in the dayâ there were incidents and horror stories, but most of the time it wasnât a life-risking event to jump in a car with a stranger. I remember about 31 years ago flipping my 4x4 upside down on a remote Michigan highway in the middle of a blizzardâat night. As the wind howled, a kindly gentleman pulled over and offered me a ride to the nearest gas station. My motherâs voice was loud in my head, and after a quick assessment I determined that I could probably overpower the old guy if necessary. Plus, I had my dog with me for protection. Of course, he didnât know my dog wasnât protective at all and would probably sit warmly in the running vehicle while I was dragged into the woods by my hair to be chopped up with the axe he was surely wielding. About 400 scenarios of my demise ran through my head, but I got in anyway. He safely delivered me to the Amoco about five miles away, where I was able to call for help from a pay phone. He may have even lent me the quarter. If your birth year starts with a â20,â you may not know what Iâm talking aboutâbut the geezers will relate.
So, itâs important that we trust our driver, right? No dashboard-gripping, white-knuckle rides for us. The best illustration I can find in my own life is teaching my girls to drive. Iâm a brave soul and was happy to help them get the hours behind the wheel they needed. My oldest daughter has four generations of truck drivers in her biology and was a natural. With her behind the wheel, I often slept because she just instinctively knew what she was doing. Sheâd shake me awake and demand that I pay attention, but honestly, I didnât feel the need.
My middle child did not come from the same biological lineage, and it showedâshe was slightly ADHD and easily distracted by shiny things and squirrels. When riding with her, I sat bolt upright and often used the invisible brake on my side of the car so aggressively I nearly turned it into a Fred Flintstone sedan. I was wide awake, alert, and probably a little loud. I loved her, but I didnât completely trust her as the navigator of a 3,000-pound hunk of metal on the open road.
Riding in a vehicle is a completely different experience when you trust the driver. When you can relax and lean your head back, the journey becomes far more enjoyable. Since Iâve let Jesus âtake the wheelâ in my life, Iâve found myself able to look out the window and take in the amazing sights and sounds of the landscape around me. I can close my eyes, soak in the sun, and feel the wind on my face. My soul is at rest, and I no longer feel the need to be on constant alert.
So, when choosing your Driver, choose wiselyâand enjoy the ride.
